Vehicle recycling involves the dismantling of the vehicle. Recycling is a great way to protect natural resources by ensuring all environmentally hazardous vehicles are destroyed & re-used properly. Most old vehicles emit a large number of toxins into the environment if left to just rust and rot. Almost all the parts of a vehicle can be recovered, with a recycling rate of greater than 90 percent. Mostly recycled parts of a car include tires, windshield glass, batteries, steel and iron, wheels, radiators, transmissions, rubber hoses, carpets, car seats, belts, oil filters, and mats. Every year in the U.S. alone, around 220 million old tires are generated, with a recycling rate of about 80 percent.  Commonly, recycled tires are used in pavement bases to make new roadways. Recycled glass from automotive is used to create tile flooring, glass beads, porcelain, countertops, and jewelry. Recycling a ton glass can save around 10 gallons of oil from being employed in the production of new g…

Biometric Vehicle Access

Biometric technology is an automated access monitoring system, based on behavioral or physiological characteristics, used for verification and recognition of a manual access.

Many versions of biometric security system are available in the market such as voice verification, fingerprints, hand geometry and retina/ iris/ face recognition. It’s a user-friendly, reliable and convenient identification and monitoring method.

The utilization of biometric identification can blend nicely with the existing automotive security systems and offer a higher degree of multi-level protection.

Every person has multiple distinctive identifiers useable in biometric technology. Current markers include: Fingerprints
Palm prints
Hand geometry
Retina and iris recognition
Facial recognition

Since these particular traits are difficult or impossible to duplicate, they have multiple benefits when used in biometric technology.

Automotive Emission Control Strategies

The development of automotive emission control technology over the last three and a half decades is one of the greatest environmental success stories of this century. Compared to the 1960s the emission of motor vehicles has dropped to a fraction, the fuel economy has doubled.

New Innovations Which Changed the Gasoline Emission Scenario are multi-point fuel injection (MPFI), Variable valve timing (VVT), 3 way catalytic converter, Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) & On-board diagnostic (OBD) whereas for reduction of  Diesel Engine Emission Turbocharger, Fuel injection system, Cooled EGR, After treatment devices such as Oxidation catalyst, Particulate traps, Lean NOx trap & SCR is used. There are some technical & non-technical measures by which emission can be controlled. Non-Technical Control Measures:·Good town planning (low skyscrapers /satellite cities). ·Congestion charges, area-licensing scheme, parking charges, phasing out of vehicles, etc. ·Proper traffic pattern & road…

Automotive Emissions

Air pollution is solid, liquid or gaseous substances that change the natural composition of air. Air pollution sources can be characterized in two categories one from stationary sources & other from mobile sources. Stationary sources of air pollution consists of Combustion of fuels for power and heat, other burning such as incineration or forest fires, Industrial/commercial processes & Solvents and aerosols whereas mobile sources of air pollution are Highway vehicles: cars, trucks, buses, and motorcycles & Off-highway vehicles such as aircraft, boats, locomotives, farm equipment, RVs, construction machinery and lawn mowers.

According to the Environmental Protection Agency, motor vehicles produce around 16 percent of pollutants in the environment. Seventy-five percent of carbon monoxide emissions come from automobiles. The main pollutants from the automotive are carbon monoxide, Volatile organic compounds (VOCs), NOx, Ozone, Lead, Particulate matter (PM), Carbon Dioxide &…

Ban on Pillion Riding

The Karnataka government has banned pillion riding on two-wheelers with engine capacities below 100cc to curb the accidents. The transport department has also banned future registration of two-wheelers below 100cc if they have seats for pillion riders. Karnataka High Court had passed the order in June 2015 while awarding compensation to Hemant, a minor crippled for life in a road accident in Mysore in 2009 while riding pillion on a two-wheeler.

The notification, while it only mentions which vehicles are banned, does not specify why. It also lists out the engine capacities of the bikes that are banned, of which barring one, all of them fall short of the 100cc mark by anything from 0.3 to 2.3 cubic centimetre. Hero Motocop's Splendor and Passion bikes, TVS Motors' Scooty Pep plus scooter and XL 100 moped are among the vehicles that will be affected by the ban.

The worst to be affected by this decision is the common man. Not everyone can afford a bike; some may choose to go for c…

The Importance Of Proper Bearings Lubrication

Though bearings lubrication is often overlooked, it is an essential part of having a well-maintained vehicle or machinery. As it serves a vital purpose, it has three basic functions: to reduce friction caused by direct metal-to-metal contact, equal transfer of heat, and to protect bearing rolling elements from contaminants, oxidation and corrosion.

Lubrication also optimizes operational efficiency. It ensures that your bearings can perform under the most demanding conditions and keeps your vehicle or equipment relatively squeak-free and wear-free.

No car can function without well-maintained bearings. Therefore, bearings and proper lubricants play a significant role in their functionality. And like any other spare part, these have an expected service life.

Top bearing suppliers near you can provide expert advice on this matter.

The importance of lubrication

To sustain proper bearing function and reduced assembly-related failure, proper lubrication must be applied. Specific factors then…

NGT ban on diesel Cars in Delhi-NCR

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) today has made it clear that the ban imposed on 10-year-old diesel vehicles in Delhi-NCR in 2015 is here to stay. While rejecting the Centre's request to modify its earlier order, NGT said that emissions from diesel vehicles were carcinogenic. One diesel vehicle causes pollution equivalent to 24 petrol vehicles or 40 CNG vehicles.

The ban on 10-year-old diesel vehicles in Delhi will really definitely give acceleration to petrol cars and bring down the demand for diesel vehicles.

Of course, the vehicle won't have much after-sale value in Delhi-NCR. But the impact may not be too big as a 10-year-old car in any case gets heavily depreciated. There is no countrywide ban on diesel. if you want to sell you can outside .

if similar rule comes in effect in other cities as well, then the  prices of diesel cars will definitely affect.

Toyata New Solid State battery by 2020

Toyota is going through its progress on a new kind of battery technology, which uses a solid electrolyte instead of the conventional semi-liquid version used in today’s lithium-ion batteries.

The improved battery technology this time will  make it possible to create smaller, more lightweight lithium-ion batteries for use in EVs, that could also potentially boost the total charge capacity and result in longer-range vehicles.

Now the improvement for this type of battery would be longer overall usable life, which can  make it possible to both use the vehicles they’re installed in for longer, and add potential for product recycling and alternative post-vehicle life .
Solid-state's safety properties could unlock a lithium-metal anode, which represents the chemical ideal in terms of how much charge it can store per unit of mass and volume.
