WAVs a wheelchair user can drive

Print this page Print this pageSomeWAVs will allow you to drive while seated in your wheelchair (what we call Drive FromWAVs or DFWs).
Some WAVs will allow you to drive while seated in your wheelchair
(what we call Drive From WAVs or DFWs

There are two ways in which this is possible:
Either the WAV allows you to transfer easily to a standard or adapted seat in the driver’s position
Or the vehicle can be driven directly from the wheelchair
The first type of conversion, which allows you to transfer from your wheelchair to a seat, is generally  a cheaper and easier option if you are able to transfer from one seat to another without needing extra help.

Both types of conversion will need an automatic anchoring system to secure your wheelchair.
How do DFWs differ from a standard WAV?

WAVs that allow wheelchair users to drive differ from passenger WAVs (where you remain seated as a passenger)  in the following ways:

The ramp or lift giving access to the WAV will be operated automatically
There will be f…

Power semi conductors driving the vehicle industry

Let's take a look at Infineon Technologies, STMicroelectronics, Freescale, and NXP Semiconductor – four of the top five OE automotive semiconductor vendors in 2012 per Semicast, all with products available through Mouser Electronics. Although the Semicast top five list has remained unchanged since 2006, the desire for longer driving range between charges, faster battery charging times, increasing electronics integration for infotainment, safety and security, and other applications may drive advancement up the list by companies with a focus on power management. Therefore, we'll also consider Texas Instruments, the leading power management semiconductor supplier in both 2010 and 2011, according to analysis by IHS iSuppli. With more than 6.5 million electric vehicles (EVs) on the road today, and annual worldwide sales projections by Pike Research reaching 3.8 million by 2020, demand for semiconductors in the automotive environment is heating calculates that "revenues for ori…

The Cyclone Engine is a Rankine Cycle heat regenerative external combustion, otherwise known as a “Schoell Cycle” engine. In short, the Cyclone is a 21st century, high efficiency, compact and powerful steam engine.

The Cyclone Engine is capable of running on virtually any fuel (or combination of fuels) including today’s promising new bio fuels, while emitting far fewer pollutants than traditional gas or diesel powered internal combustion engines. To date, Cyclone has over 1,000 hours of running and testing our engines, has achieved verified thermal efficiencies above 30%, and is very close to putting the first of these engine models into small-scale commercial production.

From waste energy and solar thermal power generators to cars, trucks, trains and ships, we see a day when our planet will be powered in a sustainable manner by just One Engine – the Cyclone Engine.
