Bajaj Dominar 400cc Bike will be Launching In Mid-December

Bajaj's all-new 400cc motorcycle has finally entered production at the company's Chakan plant in Maharashtra, India. To be named as the Bajaj Dominar 400, the bike will go on sale in the country in mid-December 2016 and will be the automaker's most powerful motorcycle in India. Interestingly the first motorcycle, which was rolled out on Friday, came from Bajaj's all-women engineer assembly line at the plant.

As for the bike itself, we have mentioned in our earlier reports that the new Dominar 400 bike will share the powertrain with the KTM 390 Duke, using the same 373.2cc single-cylinder engine. That said, the motor, however, is expected to come equipped with the bike maker's trademark triple-spark technology and this could mean that the engine will get a different head compared to the one on the Duke.

The engine is expected to have a different state of tune than the KTM too, with power restricted to around 35bhp, which will be sent to the rear wheel via a 6-speed gearbox. The engine will also be BSIV compliant in line with the new emission norms. In fact, the company has started updating its current line-up with BSIV engines, namely the Pulsar 220F and the new Avenger range for now.

The engine will be a single cylinder engine. This will be a torquey engine. This will be a good upgrade for the existing Pulsar 200NS owners who are looking for an upgrade. This cruiser sports bike will have more torque than the regular Pulsar RS400 (which will launched later). The CS400 will be an ideal bike for those who cannot afford to pick a Duke 390 for themselves, but are looking at similar performance and a 400cc bike tag too. Torque will be one of the strongest points of this engine. It will have the excitement that will make this bike a good option for those seeking for performance. The bike won’t be too heavy either. This engine will produce 34bhp instead of the 43 on the Duke 390.
